professional search engine optimization

As web development becomes more mature, people are relying on Search Engine Optimization more to help bring their site to the public. SEO, though simple in theory, can actually be difficult to implement. However, Professional Search Engine Optimization with PHP, is a great guide for the average developer.

This book has a great balance of theory and application -- every subject defined is also shown in example. There are also instructions for the reader to set up their own local web server to follow along. Everything relating to SEO is covered, including proper link formats, handling duplicate content, information and sitemap structuring, and even blackhat techniques to watch out for. To finish the book off, there are three chapters dedicated to real-world examples: one for a brand new site, one for an existing site, and one specifically for Wordpress.

I think this is a great book. It explains SEO easily and clearly, it contains an enormous amount of examples and sample code, and the case studies were great. It's small enough to read in a day, but structured easily for repeated reference. I give this book a 10/10.
