css mastery
CSS Mastery is subtitled "Advanced Web Standards Solutions" -- which describes this book perfectly. It's an advanced (yet comprehendible) guide to CSS. Right from the first chapter, Andy Budd exposes the reader to topics such as attribute selectors and hints to regular expressions -- things that most CSS books don't even cover in their entirety. From there, the book contains chapter after chapter of even more advanced CSS topics and methods.
CSS Mastery is separated into several distinct chapters such as layouts, lists, links, and tables -- each one crammed with information on not only how to apply CSS to make these elements look terrific, but making them cross-browser compatible, too. And if that's not enough, the book finishes with two detailed case studies -- applying everything learned from the past chapters to two websites whose core ideas can be found everyday on the Internet.
For being such a short, concise book, CSS Mastery provides the reader with an almost overwhelming wealth of new CSS ideas and concepts. Added to that, the numerous examples and two complete case studies make this the best CSS book I've read. I give it a 10/10.
